Teacher Eligibility Test (TET) Recruitment 2023

TET exam is conducted every year to determine the eligibility of candidates for appointment as teachers in government or private schools. While Teacher Eligibility Test (TET) exams are conducted by state governments or authorities, CTET is conducted by Central Government (CBSE).

The Teacher Eligibility Test (TET) is the minimum qualification required in India for a person to be eligible for an appointment as a teacher in the school in any of the schools. As per the Right to Education (RTE) Act, a candidate should pass the TET exam which is conducted by the appropriate Government in accordance with the guidelines framed by the National Council for Teacher Education (NCTE). The TET 2022 is conducted at the central level and state levels.

At the national level, the Central Board of Secondary Education (CBSE) conducts the Central Teacher Eligibility Test (CTET) and at the state level, various states hold the TETs every year such as UPTET, REET, TS TET, TNTET, MAHA TET, OTET, HP TET, KTET, and others.

How to Apply for TET Exam ?

In order to appear for the TET exam, candidates need to apply online or offline by filling the application form. Only those candidates are allowed to appear for the TET exams who successfully submit the application form. In order to submit the online form, candidates need to pay the application fee as well. The CTET application form is released by the CBSE, and the TET application form is released by the respective state governments or exam-conducting authorities.

The TET application fee is prescribed by the exam bodies. The fees need to be paid separately for each paper. 

Documents Required for TET Exam

To apply for the TET exam, candidates need the following documents:
  • Class 12 passing certificate
  • Diploma in Education or B.Ed. passing certificate
  • Valid Photo ID Proof
  • Passport size photograph
  • Category or Caste certificate, if any
  • Disability certificate, if any

TET Exam Eligibility criteria

In order to appear for the TET 2022, candidates should fulfill the prescribed eligibility criteria comprising the educational qualification and age limit. The TET eligibility criteria differ from state to state. However, the basic criteria remain the same that candidates need to fulfill in order to appear for a TET. The basic eligibility criteria are:

  • Candidates should be class 12 passed or a graduate from a recognized university with a minimum of 45 per cent marks
  • Candidates should have obtained a Diploma in Education or Bachelor of Education (B.Ed) or completed any other prescribed teacher training program/course
  • Candidates should be of minimum 18 years of age
  • There is no upper age limit for CTET and various TET exams

TET Selection Process

The TET examinations are divided into several stages or phases. The exam process begins with the release of official notification. Here are the stages of the TET exam or selection process:

  • Release of official TET notification

  • Issue of TET admit card

  • Conduct of the TET exam

  • Declaration of TET result

  • Issue of TET certificate
