J&K Judicial Services Exam 2025 Syllabus based study notes
The Jammu and Kashmir Civil Service – Judicial – Exam is conducted every year by the Jammu & Kashmir High Court for recruitment to the posts of Civil Judge (Junior Division) or Munsiffs in The notification is published on the High Court’s official website at : jkhighcourt.nic.in and / or the website of the state’s public service commission (If the exam is conducted by the PSC) at The Jammu & Kashmir Public Service Commission.
Eligibility and Age Limit – 2022 and 2023 Jammu and Kashmir Civil Service (Judicial) Residence: The candidate must be a permanent resident of the State as defined in section 6 of the Constitution. Age: No person shall be recruited to the service who is more than 35 years of age on the first day of January of the year in which the advertisement notice for the post of Civil Judge (Junior Division) or Munsiffs is issued. (Minimum age is 18 years.) Academic qualifications: No person shall be recruited to the service unless he is : Practice at Bar: A candidate for recruitment to the service must have put in at least three years actual practice at the bar by the date on which he submits his application for such recruitment and must produce a certificate to this effect from the District Judge within the local limits of whose jurisdiction he has practiced at the Bar. Syllabus for the 2022 and 2023 Preliminary objective type/ Screening test – Jammu and Kashmir Civil Service (Judicial) Paper-A [225 Marks , Time duration : 2 hours ] Paper-B [225 Marks , Time duration : 2 hours ] COMPULSORY PAPERS – Jammu & Kashmir Civil Services (Judicial) Mains Examination 2022 and 2023 Paper –I Paper –II Paper –III Paper –IV Paper –V Paper –VI OPTIONAL PAPERS – Jammu & Kashmir Civil Services (Judicial) Mains Examination 2022 and 2023 Paper-I Paper-II Paper-III Paper-IV Paper-V Paper-VI Note: Bare Acts shall NOT be allowed during the course of Examination Overall Scheme of the 2022 and 2023 Jammu & Kashmir Civil Service – Judicial – Exam i. Preliminary objective type/Screening test (I) Preliminary objective type/Screening test;- The Preliminary objective type/Screening test shall consist of two papers viz Paper-A & Paper-B of Objective type (Multiple Choice Question). Each paper carries a maximum of 225 marks. The time allowed for each paper shall be two hours. The marks obtained in the Preliminary objective type/Screening test shall count only for shortlisting of the candidates for appearing in the Jammu and Kashmir Civil Service (Judicial) Competitive (Main) Examination. (i.e.. Preliminary exam scores will not be used for final ranking.) Subject to minimum qualifying marks as may be fixed by the Commission at its discretion, the number of candidates to be admitted to the Main Examination shall be, as far as practicable,1/3rd of the total number of candidates who appeared in the preliminary examination or twenty five times the total number of vacancies to be filled in the service whichever be lower. (II) Written Test (Essay type) The Main Examination shall include compulsory and optional papers and every candidate shall take all the compulsory papers and three out of the optional papers. Each paper carries a maximum of 100 marks. The time allowed for each paper shall be three hours. Candidates obtaining such minimum qualifying marks, subject-wise and in the aggregate, as may be fixed by the Commission after considering the results of the examination and the number of (III) Viva-voce The viva-voce test carries a maximum of 140 marks. The object of viva voce examination is to assess the candidate’s intelligence, general knowledge, personality, aptitude and suitability After the examination the candidates will be arranged by the Commission in the order of merit as disclosed by the aggregate marks including those obtained in viva-voce finally awarded to each candidate and in that order so many candidates as are found by the Commission in their discretion to be qualified by the Examination shall be recommended for appointment up to the (IV) Physical Fitness Test No person shall be appointed as a member of service unless he/she be in a good mental and bodily health and free from any physical defect likely to interfere with the efficient performance of his duties as Member of the Service. Before a candidate who has passed the examination is finally approved for appointment to the service, he shall be required to undergo an examination by Medical Board arranged for by the Commission for which he will have to pay the prescribed fee. Note: Instructions to appear before Medical Board shall not be understood to mean that a candidate if found fit, will necessarily be given an appointment as the number of candidates who will be summoned for medical examination will generally be in excess of the total number of available vacancies. |
