UPPCS Examination Pattern

The competitive examination comprise three successive stages viz :

(1) Preliminary Examination (Objective Type & Multiple choice)

(2) Main Examination (Objective / Conventional Type)

(3) Interview (Personality Test)

Preliminary Exam Pattern

The Preliminary examination will consist of two compulsory papers of which answer sheet be onOMR sheets. The syllabus is mentioned in Appendix-5 of this advertisement. The papers shall be 200 marks each and of two hours durations.

Both the papers shall be objective Type & multiple choicein which there shall be 150-100 questions Respectively.

The timing of paper I will be from 9.30 to11.30 A.M. and paper II from 2.30 to 4.30 P.M.

Note : (1) Paper-II of the Preliminary Examination will be a qualifying paper with minimum qualifying marks fixed at 33%. (2) It is mandatory for the Candidates to appear in both thepapers of Preliminary Examination for the purpose of evaluation. Therefore a candidate willbe disqualified in case he does not appear in both in papers.

(3) The merit of the Candidateswill be determined on the basis of marks obtained in Paper-I of the Preliminary Examination.

Pre Exam Syllabus

Topics of Paper I - (200 marks) Duration : Two hours : Total Questions (150)

1. Current events of national and international importance

2. History of India and Indian National Movement

3. Indian and World Geography - Physical, Social, Economic Geography of India and the World

4. Indian Polity & Governance -Constitution, Political System, Panchayati Raj, Public Policy, Rights Issues, etc.

5. Economic and Social Development-Sustainable Development, Poverty, Inclusion, Demographics, Social Sector Initiatives, etc.

6. General issues on Environmental ecology, Bio-diversity and Climate Change - that do not require subject specialization and Climate Change - that do not require subject specialization.

7. General Science

Topics for Paper II - (200 marks) Duration : Two hours : Total Questions (100)

1. Comprehension

2. Interpersonal skills including communication skills

3. Logical reasoning and analytical ability

4. Decision making and problem solving

5. General mental ability

6. Basic numeracy (numbers and their relations, orders of magnitude, etc.) (Class X level), Data Interpretation (charts, graphs, tables, Data Sufficiency etc. - Class X level)

7. English Language & Comprehension Skills

सामान्य हिन्दी (हाईस्कूल स्तर तक) के पाठ्यक्रम मे सम्मिलित किये जाने वाले विषयद हिन्दी वर्णमाला, विराम चिन्ह, शब्द रचना, वाक्य रचना, अर्थ, शब्द-रूप, संधि, समास, क्रियायें, अनेकार्थी शब्द, विलोम शब्द, पर्यायवाची शब्द, मुहावरे एवं लोकोक्तियां, तत्सम एवं तद्भव, देशज, विदेशी (शब्द भंडार) वर्तनी अर्थबोध हिन्दी भाषा के प्रयोग में होने वाली अशुद्धियां उ0प्र0 की मुख्य बोलियां

Official Cut Off Marks for UPPSC PCS Pre Exam 2017 is as Follows :

General : 128 Marks

OBC : 128 Marks

SC : 117 Marks

ST : 98 Marks

PWD : 112 Marks

PWD : 112 Marks

Female Candidates : 121 Marks

UPPCS Main Exam (Revised on 24.04.2018) Pattern & Syllabus

कुल परीक्षा 1600 अंकों की होगी, जिसमें 1500 अंक की लिखित परीक्षा होगी। हिंदी और निबंध के 150-150 अंक रहेंगे, जबकि सामान्य अध्ययन के 200-200 अंक के दो प्रश्नपत्रों की जगह अब 200-200 अंक के चार प्रश्न पत्र होंगे। सिद्धार्थनाथ ने बताया कि वैकल्पिक विषय में अब चिकित्सा विज्ञान को भी जोड़ा जाएगा।

(A) COMPULSORY SUBJECTS

1. Gereral Hindi : 150 marks

2. Essay : 150 marks

3. General Studies (I - Paper) : 200 marks = Total 20 Questions (10 long 250 words & 10 short in 125 words)

4. General Studies (II - Paper) : 200 marks = Total 20 Questions (10 long 250 words & 10 short in 125 words)

5. General Studies (III - Paper) : 200 marks = Total 20 Questions (10 long 250 words & 10 short in 125 words)

6. General Studies (IV - Paper) : 200 marks = Total 20 Questions (10 long 250 words & 10 short in 125 words)

(B) OPTIONAL SUBJECTS (Now remained 29 Optional subjects)

7. Optional Subject - I : 200 marks

8. Optional Subject - II : 200 marks (remove from this year)

From this year only one optional subjects will be choose.

(C) COMPULSORY SUBJECTS

Interview (Personality Test) : 100 marks

Total Marks = 1600
