Tamilnadu Judicial Exam 2023
The Tamil Nadu Public Service Commission (TNPSC) annually releases vacancies for the post of Civil Judge. Application process will begin soon for the TNPSC Civil Judge Recruitment 2022. The exam will be conducted in three phases. Candidates qualifying all the levels will be called for the recruitment process. Examination Pattern and details
Eligibility Criteria
All the candidates applying for the post of TNPSC Civil Judge 2022 are advised to go through the eligibility criteria to know whether they are eligible to appear in the exam or not. In order to sit for the exam it is mandatory for all the candidates to pass the nationality, educational and age criteria. TNPSC Civil Judge 2022 Age Limit Criteria
The minimum age for aspirants is 22 years. All the candidates applying for TNPSC need to qualify for the minimum age limit. The upper age however varies for different groups. TNPSC Civil Judge Exam 2022 Educational Qualification
Apart from age criteria, candidates applying for the TNPSC Civil Judge Exam need to possess certain degree certificates, and diplomas. No relaxation is provided in education qualification for any candidate. The educational criteria is the same for all the candidates of all categories. The content below summarizes the educational criteria for TNPSC Civil Judge Exam:
For Fresh Law Graduates:
- Mandatory for candidate to hold a degree in Law firm
- The degree must be from a state or central recognized university or institution like University Grants Commission or Bar Council of India.
- Candidates must have scored an overall percentage of marks in the Bachelor’s Degree. The minimum percentage for unreserved category is 45%, while for Reserved categories it is 50%.
- The graduation degree of the candidates must not be older than three years of examination.
- Candidates should be eligible to be enrolled as an advocate.
For Practicing Advocates and Assistant Public Prosecutors:
- Mandatory for candidates to enroll in Bar Council of Tamil Nadu or the Bar Council of any other equivalent qualification.
- The degree must be from a state or central recognized university or institution like University Grants Commission or Bar Council of India.
- Candidates should be Assistant Public Prosecutor having a minimum experience of three years as an Advocate or Assistant Public Prosecutor.
- Candidates should have practice experience of minimum three years as an Advocate or Pleader in any court.
- Candidates not having practice of three years can enroll as a fresh law graduate, qualifying other criteria.
Selection Process
TNPSC Civil Judge Recruitment 2022 Selection Process
The selection process of the Civil Judge Recruitment 2022 involves three rounds as-
- Preliminary Examination
- Main Examination
- Viva-voce Test

- The phase one or Preliminary Examination is a written exam, objective in nature
- The second phase or the Main Examination is written and descriptive in nature
- The last round or Viva-voce round involves interaction between the candidate and the jury.
TNPSC Civil Judge Exam Pattern 2022
The TNPSC Civil Judge Exam consists of three levels. Any candidate who wishes to get recruited in the TNPSC Civil Judge needs to clear all the three levels. The first two levels are written exams. The third level is an oral viva.
TNPSC Preliminary Exam Pattern
The first stage of the TNPSC Civil Judge Examination is the Preliminary Exam. Candidates need to qualify the first exam first in order to appear for the second stage. Examination pattern of the Preliminary Exam is mentioned below.
- The exam is written and conducted in offline mode
- The exam paper is objective in nature.
- The paper total consists of 100 questions.
- For every correct answer 1 mark is given, and for every wrong answer 0.25 is deducted.
- The paper is set in both English and regional level- Tamil.
- Mandatory to pass this exam in order to sit in the second exam.

TNPSC Mains Exam Pattern 2022
TNPSC Mains is the second stage of the TNPSC Civil Judge Examination 2022. Only those who qualify the first round can appear in the second stage.
- The exam is written and conducted in offline mode
- The exam is descriptive in nature.
- The paper is in both languages- Tamil and English.
- The paper consists of a total of 4 sections.
- All the sections consist of 100 marks.

Viva-Voce Test
The last and final stage of TNPSC Civil Judge Exam 2022 is Viva-Voce Test. Only candidates who clear the above two stages become eligible to appear for this stage.

Final Selection
